Ltd., is a small business enterprise which has operated out of the Wantok Multicultural Centre since June 2002 in Old Petrie Town, North Pine Country Park, a tourism centre based upon recreation, education and heritage. It provides a unique range of indigenous cultural and educational experiences to both international and local visitors comptising music, dance, art and outdoor activities. In addition, the business makes and sels a comprehensive range of arts and crafts and has been in operation for 15 years and now employs indigenous and non-indigenous persons on a part time basis who work in all facets of the business. It attracts a global audience of international visitors, students and adult groups from Japan, China, Korea, Singapore, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Brunei, America, Canada and Europe. Through the Wantok Multicultural Centre, the business benefits are to create, develop and market quality multicultural activities providing indigenous programs, products and services, create job opportunities for indigenous workers, creating a multicultural tourism experience, increase employment in tourism and associated businesses as well as adding a new dimention for cultural tourism, increase visitor numbers to the centre and local region, create strategic links between all sectors involved in tourism and social businesses to grow job and business oportunities and most of all improve the public image of cultural tourism. |
